D28 Concrete & Concrete Inc
D28 was formed in March 2012. Although the company is fairly new, the owners are not new to the industry. We formed this company because we saw a great need for a company to prep, place and finish large scale floors. We felt that buying a large state of the art laser screed was essential to serve the needs of our province. Our goal is to drive the standards of concrete place and finish up to the next level. With this technology and machinery we have the ability to perform at the highest level and consistency that can be offered. Quality is our mission. And to ensure this, we will have Myron Hillcock on our pours to ensure that everything goes as planned. He is the rep. from Somero. He has 20 years of experience operating laser screeds.
About us
Justin Hansen is our operations manager and partner. He has 15 years of experience in concrete finishing. He owned Hansen Concrete Inc. for 10 years. He has a large scale of experience in commercial concrete. He is a flat work specialist.
Grant Kurian is our CFO and partner. He has owned a large forestry company for 35 years. In the forestry industry they are required to make roads. Grant has 35 years of experience in ground works. He will be hauling all our gravel, and doing all our ground prep.
Trevor Meier is our President and partner. He has 8 years of experience as a home builder. He also has 17 years as a team building coach. His specialty is going into companies and restructuring them so that they run at optimal capacity. He is in charge of our employees. Because of his education he will also be in charge of our marketing and he will act as our sales representative. He loves dealing with people.
Ben Dyck is in charge of grade beams and ground prep. He owns a construction company, and has been in business for 30 years. His specialty is standard grade beams and ICF block walls and grade beams.
Our key employees
Matthew Pipes is our placing foreman. He has 7 years of experience as a concrete finisher. Matthew Hansen is our finishing foreman. He has 9 years of experience finishing concrete. Ben Dyck is our grade beam & ICF specialist. He has 30 years of experience.
Our Machines
SXP-14 laser screed – this is the large laser screed. It has a 14’ head. We have the capacity to place up to 60, 000sqft a day with this machine. It’s the largest laser screed in the market to date. It will screed at a rate of 10,000sqft per hour.
Copperhead 3.0X – this is our smaller laser screed. The benefit of this machine is that it only weighs 800 pounds. We can screed on structural slabs, float on top of rebar and infloor piping. The Copperhead screeds at a rate of 6,000sqft per hour. It has a capacity of 30,000sqft per day.
Power Rake – this is a large laser power rake that goes in front of the laser screeds. It rakes back the concrete ½” higher than the finished floor grade. This insures optimal flatness because the laser screeds don’t have to pull so much concrete back. This machine also makes our crew place faster.
We have 3 excavators – a 240 and 2 200’s. We have 2 belly dump trucks and a rear dump truck. We have 2 bulldozers, one D7 CAT, we also have a large ride on packer. We are fully capable of handling any job.
We currently own 3 large ride on power trowels and a variety of walk behind machinery
Why use us?
We can save you a lot of money and time. Larger pours means less pours and less lost days. Less pours means less Cold joints and less framing of construction joints. If that is not enough, you do not have to hand screed floors anymore. We laser screed everything. That gives you the assurance that every floor we pour will be as flat as possible.
